It followed shortly after a George III mahogany inlaid fall front bureau, 3ft 4in (98cm), brought double the top estimate, £1600 while a pair of mid-19th century figured walnut and floral marquetry side cabinets, 2ft 4in, presented a decorative entry
at £2300.
Silver entries frequently went way above estimates.
A pair of fiddle pattern sauce ladles, 152g, scooped a multiple-estimate £690; a Georgian silver caddy spoon, salt spoon and other silver condiment spoons, 110g, took £685 and a textured silver three-piece cruet went at £655.
