The new system of marking out outside pitches has encouraged stallholders and they are investing a considerable amount to pull in more buyers to the Sussex fair on April 23 and 24.

Around 70,000 mail shots are being distributed throughout the South of England with 30,000 named individuals receiving a personalised letter and brochure with incentives to turn up.

Jason Franks, European managing director of DMG Fairs, says: “We have spent a lot of money identifying our visitors over the past year and we are now able to put that information into use.”

Meanwhile, since DMG inaugurated breakfast meetings with their stallholders to thrash out moot points at their internationally famous Newark fairs, market research is being conducted to tackle topics raised.

Results will be presented to dealers’ representatives at the next meeting at Newark on June 10 and 11.
