The deal, which was confirmed last week, will significantly expand the group’s sphere of influence in the West Country, bringing areas such as The Cotswolds well within consignment range.

Bristol Auction Rooms’ managing director Nick Ewing will continue running the business and will become a director of FAAG. His 25 years’ experience in auctioneering together with his and his staff’s local knowledge and contacts are viewed as vital assets in taking the firm forward.

The Bristol rooms are seen as a natural fit with FAAG’s South Western division of salerooms, which include Fenner’s of Tavistock and the Honiton Galleries, both of which became part of the group last year.

FAAG started in the South East in 2001, when they acquired Edgar Horn’s in Eastbourne and Bracketts in Tunbridge Wells, going on to establish Salehurst Auctioneers in Battle as a general saleroom in 2002.

FAAG chief executive Michael Thoms said: “The Bristol Auction Rooms business is a perfect fit to our existing network of salerooms, and we are delighted to welcome Nick and his team to the group.”
