Pimlico Road in London SW1 has become an international centre for decorative antiques and during Garden Week many of the street’s dealers will be holding special exhibitions on a garden theme.

Julian Simon Fine Art mount a selling show of 19th century French flower paintings; Ebury Galleries hold an exhibition of botanical watercolours; Ross Hamilton has a display of antique porcelain vases inspired by plant motifs and Linley showcases work inspired by topiary.

At least a dozen shops and galleries will remain open until 8pm on May 19 for drinks, refreshments and late trading.

On a less celebratory note, the main board of Grosvenor Estates, the landlords of Pimlico Road’s shops, met on April 30 to address the traders’ dismay at two rent hikes in two years, a development which is seriously threatening the future of the businesses. Richard Dalton of Grosvenor Estates reports to the Pimlico Road Association this week and we will report any developments.
