Britain’s largest fair organisers want to further improve facilities on site with the new building to replace the tented Newark Pavilion. It is scheduled for completion in time for the February 3-5 fair – the first to adopt the controversial Thursday to Saturday slot. DMG have also signed a deal to secure the Newark and Nottinghamshire Showground as the ongoing location for the fair until at least 2025.
Facilities appear to be the current battleground for supremacy in the giant fairs face-off. Last week Arthur Swallow Fairs, organisers of the rival fair at RAF Swinderby, said they would be upping their spend on amenities at the disused airfield.
In an effort to cast off the rough-and-ready reputation of the fair, they are planning to emulate the Overseas Buyers’ Lounge (successfully introduced at Newark some years ago) with a new VIP Lounge complete with “carpeting, seating, hot drinks and luxury toilets”.

DMG Antiques Fairs have put up £350,000 for a new building at the Newark and Nottinghamshire Showground and secured the venue for another 20 years.
