Top seller was this mahogany sideboard, right, measuring 7ft 5in (2.26m) long with two sliding doors and two supports in blackened oak. Modestly estimated at just €15,000, it was contested by French and American private and trade bidders before selling to the French trade at €141,000 (£97,200).
A three-legged, asymmetric, round-ended mahogany coffee table, 8ft (2.4m) long, more than tripled expectations when it made €85,000 (£58,600) while a low, three-legged ash bench, formed by nine slats, doubled the estimate selling at €17,200 (£11,860).
Six round, tripod mahogany stools by Perriand sold at €6500 (£4480) and an open-backed, three-legged ash chair, designed by Perriand for Georges Blanchon éditeur, brought €5500 (£3790).
A moulded Art Nouveau dining room suite by Camille Gauthier and Paul Poinsignon, carved with peony motifs in relief, doubled hopes to bring €8000 (£33,100).
It comprised a chunky-legged drop-leaf table with central shaft, shown above right, 12 chairs, a sideboard; and a majestic, 8ft (2.44m) high glass-doored buffet which, like the sideboard, had ormolu handles shaped like leaves.

Furniture designed by Charlotte Perriand (1903–99) and produced by Steph Simon éditeur, raised some stiff start-of-year prices in the Piasa (17.94/11.96% buyer’s premium) saleroom on January 28.
