A 1533 [second quarto?] edition of Jugge's revision of Tyndale's version, it lacks all before B1 and the first four leaves are damaged, as are a couple of others, while one leaf is lacking entirely and it ends at Qq9. Even with such faults this remains a rare item and in its worn old blind stamped calf binding, it seems to have been keenly contested.
Other highlights from the Norfolk sale included a 1572 edition of Henri Estienne's Thesaurus Graecae Linguae, the four vols. bound as three in old calf, now worn, that sold for £600; a two-vol. first edition (1770-71) of William Hanbury's Complete Body of Planting and Gardening..., the second vol. with a broken binding and showing some staining to the earlier leaves, which made £750, and an 1815 first (in worn old boards) of Frederick Accum's Practical Treatise on Gaslight, illustrated with seven colour plates - the folding frontispiece seen bottom right - that brought a bid of £460.
An 1877 first of Anna Sewell's Black Beauty was valued at £5000-6000, but the worn and frayed joints of the brown pictorial cloth binding were not a strong selling point and it failed.
