But the staff at Cirencester's Moore, Allen and Innocent (10% buyer's premium) found one - the consignor of this fine early 19th century, mahogany writing table. He thought the 5ft by 3ft 4in (1.56 x 1.01m) table was similar to the Indonesian reproduction furniture spotted outside the local auction house and hoped it might be worth £100.
It is, of course, English and has bags of Regency period style.
Although somewhat neglected (there were losses to the beading and it had been stored in an outhouse) it promised a spectacular restoration. On June 4 it sold to the trade at £11,000 (estimate £4000-5000).
Clean untouched condition, a great colour, and a private consignor helped a Regency mahogany serpentine-front sideboard, 5ft (1.52m) wide, to £5200 while, stamped with a royal coat of arms and inscribed Morgans, Dublin, a 19th century mahogany breakfast table with a 5ft (1.52m) diameter bleached top sold for £3400.
