From March 3 to 6 Sanford Smith present their 17th annual Works on Paper Fair at the Seventh Regiment Armory on New York’s Park Avenue. It showcases affordable works by emerging artists alongside Old Masters, watercolours, prints, printed books and photography.
Some 80 international exhibitors participate and UK dealers include the Adam Gallery, Ian Mackenzie Fine Art, Sims Reed, William Weston and Chris Beetles.
St. James’s art dealer Chris Beetles, who is especially well known for his
exhibitions of original illustrations, says: “I’ve been exhibiting at the fair
since it started – I am a founder member and I take the very best of my stuff for my buyers, largely anglophile New Yorkers.
“This is a very specialised fair with a serious clientele. It is relaxed, casual and easygoing without all the tarted up tensions of other fairs with the anxious smell of money about them; and this is not a fair straitjacketed by interior decorators.”
