DISCOVERY Real Time are filming at Take Five’s Art Nouveau/Deco Fair at Woking on Sunday, October 29 for their 10-part Real Deal series which focuses on two dealers selling their pieces. One of these is a novice, TV presenter Alex Riley, and the other is Ceri Levy, the art and antiques dealer and son of the late Mervyn Levy, the Welsh artist and distinguished critic.

Over a period of 10 months, the series follows the pair on buying trips across Europe and then sees them using their selling skills at fairs in the UK.

At Woking the pair will be offering European and Scandinavian glass, ceramics and metalware from the 1930s to the 1970s. Talking to ATG, Real Deal producer and director David Hatcher said: “The series emphasises the hard reality of dealing – that it’s a lot harder than people think, with so many learning curves but with all the excitement of trading.
“There are five of us working on the series and now we’re all hooked on buying and selling; mainly art, furniture and glass. We’ve filmed Alex and Ceri dealing at Spitalfields antiques market, antique and collectors fairs at Epsom Racecourse and Ardingly and we’ll be at the Mid-Century Modern Fair on Sunday November 19 at Dulwich College.”
John Slade of Take Five said: “There’s always a lot of interest at these specialist fairs and the emphasis from the many dealers there is on quality, rarity and decorative desirability.”

Take Five’s Art Nouveau/Deco Fair is at Woking Leisure Centre in Kingfield Road (A247). Trade entry at 8am. Tel: Take Five Fairs on 020 8894 0218.
