It’s a sophisticated take on the car boot sale adapted to the inner city that brings the work of emerging artists to the public at affordable prices in an informal setting.

In addition to art from over 60 carefully selected celebrity and emerging artists, including Vivienne and Ben Westwood, there will be a host of entertainment and a barbecue.

Sisters and co-curators Karen and Helen of Ashton & Hayward first teamed up with Vauxhall in 2003 for an Art Car Boot Fair rally from Brighton to London, which coincided with the Brighton Photo Biennial. This developed into two stand-alone events in Brick Lane in 2004 and 2006, and the positive response triggered the decision to make the event annual.

Visitors can expect a range of items valued from £1 to £500. A special edition poster on mirrored paper created specially by Anthony Gross for the Art Car Boot Fair in an edition of 30 has an approximate £20 price tag.

The fair takes place on Sunday, July 8 from noon at the Old Truman Brewery on 146 Brick Lane, E1. Entry is £2.
