The pledge comes after consultation meetings with L&G Consulting, tourism, leisure and heritage specialists, who have undertaken a study to help determine the museum’s future.
The consultation plan for stage one of the study is now available, but it is looking solely at the possibilities of moving the world-renowned Broadfield House glass collection to the Red Cone site at Wordsley.
This is in spite of The Stourbridge Decorative and Fine Arts Society recently identifying the empty Woolworths store, a three-storey building in the centre of Stourbridge, as an alternative to the Wordsley site, or Himley Hall, where part of the collection is currently stored.
The findings and draft recommendations from stage one of the feasibility study will be presented to Dudley council’s select committee on regeneration, culture and education on September 7.
A second public meeting will be held in late September and final recommendations made to the council cabinet on October 28.
