p>IACF director Robert Thomas said: “Historically, this has always been the quietest event and our contract with [site owners] Cemex allows for this situation.”

The organisers’ flagship fair at the Newark and Nottinghamshire Showground on Thursday, February 4-5 remains unaffected thanks to its venue facilities of nine permanent halls, which accommodate 1000-plus stalls. The event is part of IACF's winter season offer, with buyers’ ticket price halved for both days to £10.

While the organisers could be accused of burying bad news about the controversial Swinderby fair that has failed to gain a firm foothold in the calendar against competition from the Swallow Fairs event at the Lincolnshire showground, IACF are confident the Swinderby fair will be back in the spring. The next fair is scheduled for Monday, April 5 (Bank Holiday Monday) to Wednesday, April 7.

Despite the snow, IACF is pleased to confirm that the much more imminent Ardingly fair is to continue as planned at the South of England Showground on January 12 and 13. Despite the poor road conditions in the surrounding area, this event has the benefit of four permanent halls and IACF report current bookings of 400 stalls.
