The system, says eBay, will make it "simpler and easier for you to calculate up-front the fees you'll pay". There will also be a maximum charge of £40.
However, some users argue they will be out of pocket once the changes take place on July 21. Under the old system, someone selling an item for £300 would have paid £12.67, but will now pay £30, an increase of nearly 150 per cent.
The new fees affect listings of private sellers in all categories except vehicles and property. They do not affect the many small- to medium-size businesses and entrepreneurs trading professionally on eBay.co.uk.
