Weighing over a tonne and measuring 4ft 5in (1.35m) high, it came from a local estate and was the stand-out lot of the sale held by Fieldings of Stourbridge on March 9.
The 20th century statue was the work of the Bromsgrove Guild, a company founded in 1898 by Walter Gilbert and best known for making the main gates at Buckingham Palace.
Attracting bids from a private buyer and four dealers, it comfortably overshot the £4000-6000 estimate, selling for £35,000.
The successful buyer was a dealer in the room.
The buyer's premium was 21%.
