Bonhams held two dedicated glass auctions, on May 1 and 2, the first producing a new auction high for a piece of English cameo glass when they obtained £140,000 (plus premium) for Thomas and George Woodall's 17in (43cm) diameter plaque of 1896, carved with a scene of two cupids and a maiden titled The Attack.
The next day they topped this with £230,000 for a c.1700 engraved Silesian goblet by Friedrich Winter.
Also on May 1 Sotheby's were selling a large collection of Meissen animal figures and a selection of furnishings from the collection of Sir Gawaine and Lady Baillie.
At that sale a large, 19in (48.5cm) high, white Meissen figure of a snuff-taking monkey of c.1732 from the Japanese Palace in Dresden realised £680,000 (plus premium).
