They will be replaced by Victoria Siddall, currently director of Frieze Masters, who will become director of all three fairs from 2015 onwards. Victoria previously worked on the contemporary fair from 2004 until 2010 and will be supported in her new role by artistic directors in London and New York.

In London, Joanna Stella-Sawicka, who joined the Frieze team in 2011 and is currently deputy director of Frieze London, will become artistic director. Her New York counterpart has yet to be appointed.

The surprise announcement was made by Matthew Slotover at a press briefing on September 25, when he said that both he and Amanda Sharp would remain closely involved with Frieze. While he would not be drawn on what the proposed new projects might be, he did say that they would not be launching any further fairs or magazines.
