“I believe the news coverage surrounding the election season (especially during this election) causes people to reminisce about political campaigns and presidential terms of the past,” Danielle Isaacs, specialist at Weschler’s, told ATG. “These pieces offer a chance to own something that once belong to transformative figures in US history.”

One of the starring lots of the timed sale is an autographed copy of John F Kennedy’s 1961 presidential inaugural address. The signed copy is bound in white cloth with a gilt presidential seal on the cover and an inscription. It is estimated at $10,000-15,000.

The majority of the lots are from the estate of Gerald Behn, a special agent for the White House under Presidents Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy and Johnson.

Other notable lots include an autographed Christmas photograph of Franklin D Roosevelt and Eleanor Roosevelt dated 1941, which is estimated at $1000-2000 and an autographed and inscribed photograph of Kennedy, which is estimated at $800-1200.

When it comes to presidential memorabilia, Isaacs added, “JFK is the most sought after, but pieces surrounding FDR’s war years are equally as desirable.”

The online auction is open now and closes on November 8.
