Trinder – auctioneer and valuer at Wotton Auction Rooms – began his career aged 16 as trainee saleroom assistant at Moore Allen & Innocent, and joined NAVA in 2013. He was elected as vice president in 2014 under the then president Philip Arnold.

Working alongside Trinder for 2016-17 is newly-elected vice president James Emson of Clive Emson Auctioneers.

His hopes for this year? “Within my year-long tenure I strive to strengthen NAVA's profile, to help the group take its place as a well-known brand within the industry, a symbol of best practise and high standards," he told ATG. "We hope to achieve this in many ways including reviewing our services offered for members as well as our courses programme.”

Trinder, also committee chair of Antiques Young Guns, added: “For the immediate future we look forward to the annual autumn forum, being held on October 6 at the Oxford Belfry. I'm also very excited about the NAVA Novice Auctioneer of the Year competition, organised in association with ATG and taking place the preceding evening alongside our members' dinner.”

Closing date for the Novice Auctioneer of the Year competition is September 25.
