Highclere Castle in Hampshire is the home of the Earls of Carnarvon but is used as the setting for the popular ITV series Downton Abbey and the fictional Earl of Grantham.
A set of 44 large mounted black-and-white photographs of the house, staff and estate from the 19th century will be offered at auction at Lawrences Auctioneers in Crewkerne in Somerset on February 3.
The castle was home to George Herbert, fifth Earl of Carnarvon, and his wife Almina Herbert in the late 19th and early 20th century.
The photographs, taken by J. W. Righton of Newbury, date from 1895 and include portraits of the newly married 5th Earl with his Countess Alimina.
There is also a photograph showing Edward, Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII), and interior shots showing how Highclere was furnished and decorated in the 1890s.
Lawrences' consultant Robert Ansell said: "It is intriguing to see how life was lived on a great British estate across a span of 120 years."
The album, carrying an estimate of £300-500, comes from the attic of a woman in south Dorset. Her parents-in-law had owned a carriage business. This photograph album was a gift to the family, possibly in gratitude for years of loyal service.
The photographs each measure 9in x 11in (23 x 28cm) and according to Lawrences have been well kept.
