Friends of the BADA Trust has two new initiatives, beginning with a networking evening for the younger generation in the trade.
The brainchild of Friends director Anne Green, Reindeer Antiques on Kensington Church Street will host the evening social event on September 26. Designed for younger dealers, friends and anyone associated with the wider fine art and antiques community, it will offer attendees the chance to chat, share wisdom and mingle with BADA dealers and fellow industry peers in an informal environment.

The next initiative by Green is a programme called ‘At Home with the Dealers’ which is designed to allow attendees a chance to explore BADA dealers’ personal collections and learn about the objects that inspire them.
Eclectic
The programme begins with a tour of the River House Collection with 18th to 20th century topographical watercolours and oils specialist Julia Korner, on October 19. The collection features works by notable artists such as Thomas Girtin, John Varley, Edward Lear and John Nash.
Next up, on October 31, is an ‘eclectic morning in Hampstead’ courtesy of Chinese and Japanese porcelain specialist David Freeman.
‘At Home with the Dealers’ will continue in 2018. On January 30, Christopher Claxton Stevens, former director of celebrated English furniture dealer, Norman Adams, will host ‘Arts & Crafts in Clapham’ and show the candlelit interiors of his late 19th century terraced home along with antiques and arts and crafts.
Dutch and Flemish Old Master specialist Johnny Van Haeften will be showing his own collection at his home in south-west London in June 2018. Built in 1697, and situated a short walk from Ham House, his home hosts Antarctic memorabilia, including the last sledge in private hands from Shackleton’s Nimrod Expedition of 1907.
