Earlier this year, the event was rescheduled from May to September to accommodate ongoing works at the Octagon Building at Buxton Pavilion Gardens.

However, fair director Sue Ede said that “the building is only now coming to the end of its building programme and we cannot guarantee everything will be ready for September”.

The next staging is now scheduled to run from May 16-19, 2019.

During the past two years the fair has been held in a temporary pavilion alongside the Octagon building, but it has not been available this year.

“Now we look forward to returning to the Octagon Hall for a major relaunch event,” Ede said. It will be the 54th edition of the fair, which is supported by the Buxton Opera House and the Buxton Festival.

The programme of refurbishment includes a new floor, fixtures and fittings for the Octagon building.
