Justice Nye Perram said that administrator BDO Australia was “intermeddling” by charging an Aus$353.20 (around £200) collection fee per item, according to a report by Australian broadcaster ABC.

Mossgreen is currently holding more than 10,000 items on consignment at four sites in Victoria and one in New South Wales. BDO had said the charges were “to meet the reasonable and properly incurred costs of identifying, preserving, maintaining and facilitating the return of the consigned goods”.

BDO has been ordered to respond to the court within the next seven days.

In a statement sent to ATG, BDO Australia said: "We are currently considering options in relation to the Federal Court judgment and the steps that now need to be taken to protect the interests of creditors."
