Among the items taken were three Omar Ramsden and Alwyn Carr Art Nouveau silver rose bowls and four George III silver candlesticks.
Officers from Gloucestershire police were called at 10.05pm on July 9 to reports of a burglary at Glebe House in Bibury, where four suspects are believed to have climbed a 7ft-high wall to gain entry to the grounds.
In a statement, Prof Sir Christopher Evans said: “The burglary has had a particularly devastating effect on my wife Anne as many of the pieces of jewellery, silver and ceramics have huge sentimental value for us both…There are many small value and large items that have been stolen but they all have the same emotional and sentimental impact.”
The police are asking anyone with information to ring them on 101 and quote incident number 595 and crime number 19555/18.
Det Con Faye Satchwell-Bennett, who is investigating the burglary, said: “We are trying to identify the offenders and ask that members of the public watch the CCTV footage and think back to that day.”
Evans added: “These thieves are dangerous, brazen, professional risktakers, and the next time somebody could be seriously hurt or worse… We know that people saw these thieves make their getaway in a dark grey Audi vehicle and reported them to the police. I do urge anyone with any further information to contact the police immediately.”
Other items stolen include a pear shaped Boodle and Dunthorne diamond solitaire ring, a Cartier platinum and white gold diamond line bracelet, Elizabeth Gage 18ct yellow gold brooch, carved green beryl of The Green Man, an emerald and diamond brooch/pendant by Asprey c.1920 and a gold and amethyst choker by Ilias Lalaounis.
