Worshipful Company of Arts Scholars
Georgina Gough has been appointed Master at the Worshipful Company of Arts Scholars. She took over in May from Woolley & Wallis chairman Paul Viney. She is now the 14th master of the livery company.
The company was formed in 2004 as a City Guild for the antique decorative and applied arts by the late pottery dealer Jonathan Horne. Horne worked with Gough in forming the guild which was awarded full livery status in 2014. Gough served as clerk until 2017. She is daughter of the late dealer Ronald Lee and worked at the family firm Ronald A Lee Fine Arts. She now spends her time lecturing and working with charities.
Sotheby’s
Beibei Fan
Beibei Fan has joined Sotheby’s as managing director of China. Working in Beijing, Fan will be responsible for leading the local team and driving Sotheby's business and presence in China. She previously worked in television at HBO, where she was executive vice president for new business, and prior to that at Warner Bros and The Walt Disney Company in China.
Kevin Ching, CEO of Sotheby's Asia, said: "Beibei has successfully guided multinational companies through growth and expansion in China and brings a detailed understanding of Chinese governmental system and economic environment. Her track record will be of significant benefit to our focus on growth and opportunities in China."
Dix Noonan Webb
Nigel Mills
Dix Noonan Webb has hired Nigel Mills as antiquities expert working alongside their coin and jewellery departments. His focus will be artefacts, ancient and British hammered coins, ancient jewellery and antiquities discovered by metal detectorists.
Pierce Noonan, managing director at DNW, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Nigel as an expert to DNW. He has worked closely with us for many years and was instrumental in several wonderful discoveries coming to auction, including the consignment of an important Roman coin discovered in Kent which we will be offering for sale in June.”
