It plans to focus on online and non-degree education courses, ending traditional higher education graduate degree programmes.
The proposed restructuring will not impact the current class of enrolled Master’s degree students who will finish during the 2019-20 academic year. However, the Master’s degree programme will then cease.
An initial restructuring proposal was announced yesterday to faculty and staff, subject to a mandatory consultation period which is now under way.
Christie’s Education currently comprises three components: Higher Education (Master’s degree programs), Continuing Education (short courses, symposia, conferences) and Online Education (online courses).
Traditional degree programme
Christie’s said in recent years its Continuing Education and Online Education components have outpaced the traditional degree programme in terms of enrolment and growth, with participants from 59 countries involved in the non-degree formats.
The proposed restructuring plan integrates operation of the Continuing Education and Online Education departments into the main Christie’s company.
