Lathom Hall has been owned and run by Brian Corrigan for the past three decades but at age 72 he is retiring. He will sell his collection of film, music and pop-culture memorabilia that has been on display at the venue.

Auctioneer Adam Partridge and his colleague James Spiridion will sell the 285 lots on-site on October 19 at an auction titled ‘Lathom Hall: An Exceptional and Eccentric Collection of Film, Music and Pop-Culture Memorabilia’. A viewing event will take place at the venue the day before.

Brian Corrigan said: “After 31 years I am retiring and selling most of my collection. A lot of it is just too big to put in my house so I will only keep a few of the small things like my Beatles memorabilia.”

Spiridion added: “It has obviously been a brilliant venue as you can imagine people taking pictures and selfies with King Kong, Jack Sparrow, Tony Montana, Elvis and all the other cast of characters that inhabit the place.”

The first lot of the October 19 sale is a 6ft 10in (209cm) tall King Kong figure produced by OxMox and estimated at £300-500 while a life-sized recreation of the Sgt Pepper album cover is estimated at £500-800.

Two interesting car conversions are also going under the hammer.

A Mercedes car converted into a ‘Popemobile’ is offered at £1500-2500 and a bar in the shape of a sports car known as the Lam’Bar’Ghini comes with a £800-1200 estimate.

Fans of The Beatles can bid for the stage that the Fab Four performed on ten times (including appearances under their former names ‘The Silver Beats’ and ‘The Silver Beetles’). The stage of Lathom Hall is offered at £500-800.
