"Most people think they need to accept a pre-owned item in the condition it is in but there are so many things we can do to improve its condition," says Charlotte Staerck, retail director at the Clinic.
It specialises in vintage and modern handbags and has collaborated with the Birmingham saleroom for its sale on Monday, July 15, restoring a navy quilted Chanel flap bag going under the hammer with an estimate of £500-700.
Nicola Whittaker, business development manager at Fellows, said that the restoration “shows how with some care and attention, new life can be restored in well-loved vintage pieces”.
The auction features a range of handbags shoes and accessories including brands such as Chanel, Hermès, Louis Vuitton and Mulberry.
Staerck names a peach croc Lady Dior as her favourite bag in the sale, saying “it is stunning”. Part of a limited edition and catalogued in good condition, it is guided at £2800-3200.
