1. A Charles II sterling silver tankard

A March 12 sale of silver and object of vertu at west London saleroom Chiswick Auctions will include a Charles II sterling silver tankard, London 1676, attributed to Edward Gladwin.
It is the only known piece with a 1676 date from the dozen or so tankards by Gladwin that are recorded. The punched repeating dots and stampwork decoration to the hinge is also not seen on any of Gladwin’s other surviving tankards. It is estimated at £2500-3500. View the lot online at thesaleroom.com.
2. An enamel Trowbridge Station sign
An enamel Trowbridge Station sign estimated at £500-1000.
This enamel sign for Trowbridge Station in Wiltshire was found during a household clearance of a cottage in Dorset. The 3ft (91.5cm) wide sign would have been fixed to the station wall or board by two flanges drilled with holes. It will go under the hammer at Charterhouse on March 14-15, estimated at £500-1000. 3. An Alfa Romeo Clockwork racing car
An Alfa Romeo Clockwork racing car estimated at £2500-3500.
This scarce 1930’s Alfa Romeo P2 clockwork racing car will be offered at C&T’s Vintage and Collectable toy auction on March 13. Compagnie Industrielle Du Jouet produced the car that was based on the Grand Prix racing car designed by Vittorio Jano that raced between 1924 and 1930. With a pressed steel body, finished in French blue, racing number 2 with clover leaf logos, it is in good condition but with a missing key. 4. Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson bookcase
A Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson bookcase estimated at £2000-4000.
This bookcase by Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson is engraved with the words: Presented to Cecil Crosthwaite by the masters and crews of his tugs 1933. Middlesbrough-born Crosthwaite was aged 21 when he was appointed a director of his father’s local Tees Towing Company at its AGM in 1930. The same year, he was commissioned into the 50th Divisional Signals Regiment of the Territorial Army as a second lieutenant. He was promoted to lieutenant in 1933. The 7ft x 3ft 6in (2.13 x 1.06m) adzed oak open bookcase has a central wrought-iron hinged two-door cupboard and is flanked by three adjustable shelves and the dedicatory script. Jubilee Auctions in Pewsey, Wiltshire, will offer the piece estimated at £2000-4000 on March 13.
5. Georgian-style entrance
A Georgian-style entrance estimated at £15,000-25,000.
Many luminaries of the 20th century passed through this Georgian-style entrance, cast with a 13ft (4m) high overthrow incorporating the letter ‘W’ for Warwick. It was made for Easton Lodge in Great Dunmow, Essex, home of Daisy Greville, Countess of Warwick. A socialite and mistress to King Edward VII, she inherited the estate when she was four and continued to live there after her marriage to Francis Greville, 5th Earl of Warwick.
Guests to the estate included George Bernard Shaw, Gustav Holst, Ramsay McDonald, AA Milne, Charlie Chaplin and HG Wells, whose family lived in one of the estate properties. The imposing piece is estimated at £15,000-25,000 at Summers Place Auctions in Billingshurst, West Sussex, on March 13.
