Bonhams
Bonhams has made a series of appointments this autumn. Bobbie Hu becomes chairman in Greater China reporting to Edward Wilkinson, Bonhams’ executive director in Asia. Hu joins Bonhams from luxury Italian jewellery brand Bvlgari where she was for 18 years.
Amelia Manderscheid has joined as senior director of the Post-War and Contemporary Art department, reporting to head of department in the Americas Muys Snijders. Working from San Francisco, Manderscheid will represent Bonhams with a particular focus on the West Coast region.
She joins from venture capital firm Exponential Creativity Ventures and previously worked at Contemporary art gallery David Zwirner Gallery and Christie’s in New York.
Also in the US, Bonhams has appointed Molly Ott Ambler as senior vice president, international director and head of Americas for Impressionist & Modern Art in New York. She joins from art adviser Gurr Johns.
Doyle
Two specialists at US auction house Doyle have relocated to its Florida operation. Husband and wife Sebastian Clarke and Katherine Van Dell will both work with Doyle's director of Florida operations Collin Albertsson, who is a silver specialist.
Clarke is a furniture and decorative arts specialist and is senior vice president. Van Dell is a jewellery specialist and is vice president.
Halls
Shropshire auction house Halls’ youngest specialist Jack Austerberry took the rostrum for the first time earlier this month. Aged 19, he is a junior watch specialist and joined Halls in November 2018.
Edinburgh Assay Office
Edinburgh Assay Office’s chief executive Scott Walter will become chairman of the Convention on the Control & Marking of Articles of Precious Metals (CCMAPM) at the end of November.
Walter was recently chairman of The International Association of Assay Offices and oversaw its merger with the CCMAPM. CCMAPM is also known as the Precious Metals Convention, the Hallmarking Convention or the Vienna Convention and was created in 1972. The convention created the Common Control Mark (CCM), which prescribed technical rules on testing and marking.
