1. William de Morgan tile
The Arts & Crafts and Design sale at Woolley & Wallis in Salisbury on August 24-25 includes a number of William de Morgan tiles from the collection of Jon Catleugh.
It is fair to say that Catleugh had a wide range of interests. He has been described as an architect, designer, painter, collector and ceramic historian. He was also the author of William De Morgan Tiles.
The Woolley & Wallis sale features a number of William De Morgan tiles from his collection, offered alongside a variety of other objects.
One of the lots offered is this rare large tile, pictured above, which measures 10in (25cm) square. It is painted with a portrait of a Renaissance lady in shades of blue, aubergine, green and yellow.

2. William Hardie portrait
Portrait of William Hardie by John Byrne, 1991 - estimate £4000-6000 at Great Western Auctions on August 28.
One of the leading Scottish art specialists of his generation William Hardie (1941-2021) died in January this year and works from his collection are now coming to an auction in Glasgow.
Having worked as a curator, he joined Christie’s in 1977, setting up the Scottish picture department which he ran until 1984. He later launched William Hardie Fine Art in Glasgow, his gallery in West Regent Street which became renowned for its discoveries and exhibitions.
On August 28, Great Western Auctions will offer items from his estate. The 291 lots from his collection, mostly pictures but also some furniture, ceramics and books, include a portrait of Hardie by John Byrne (b.1940). It is dated September 27, 1991 and is inscribed as a 50th birthday gift.

3. Countess Spencer's dance purses
One of two early 20th century mesh style dance purses, belonging to Countess Spencer (1897-1972) – estimate £1000-1500 at Cheffins on August 26.
Two early 20th century mesh style dance purses, belonging to Countess Spencer, DCVO, OBE (1897-1972), will go under the hammer at Cheffins in Cambridge on August 26.
One of the dance purses is 9ct gold and constructed in chain mail while the other is of gilt metal in a similar style.
Countess Spencer, Princess Diana’s paternal grandmother and great-grandmother to Prince William and Prince Harry, was born Cynthia Ellinor Beatrix Hamilton. She married Viscount Althorp in 1919 and was appointed Lady of the Bedchamber to Queen Elizabeth in 1937. She continued the role after Elizabeth became Queen Mother in 1952 and remained in the post until her death.

Comic Book Auctions is offering TV Century 21 (1965- 67) issues 1-140 with the elusive free gift ‘Special Agent Identicode Card’ with No 1 and ‘Special Agent Badge and Secret Coded Message Forms’ with No 2.
The 140 issues are completed with the scarce Thunderbirds Are Go 52-page special from 1966.
TV Century 21 in its 1960s production run involved many of the greatest comics illustrators of their day. Frank Bellamy and Don Harley drew Thunderbirds, Mike Noble and Don Lawrence took turns at Fireball XL5 and Ron Embleton and Ron Turner drew The Daleks, Stringray and Captain Scarlet. Even Dan Dare’s creator, Frank Hampson, drew Lady Penelope in issues 40-45.
