Dealership Hancocks of London is offering this Carreras c.1905 Art Nouveau cloisonné enamel bracelet at £135,000. Designed as a series of four open panels with butterflies and other flora and fauna, in gold frames and signed de A Carreras Barcelona, the bracelet is 7½in (19cm) long. It comes complete in its original fitted leather case.
The Carreras were the oldest family of Spanish jewellers, founded by Francesco d’Assis Carreras Duran (1797-1862) in Barcelona. At the start of the 20th century, influenced by the House of Masriera, the workshop began to follow a more modernistic current in a style called ‘Modernisme’, Barcelona’s own version of Art Nouveau.
