Organised by dealer Moses Otunia, who owns a mid-century and vintage furniture shop in nearby Herne Hill, this year’s fair runs on Saturday and Sunday, April 29-30, and fields around 25 dealers selling mid-century pieces. These include GP-Light & More with 20th century French furniture and lighting.

Opened in 1937 and built by the London County Council in the Art Deco style, the lido extolled the virtues of ‘continental beach life’ in south London.

One of the few remaining outdoor pools in the capital, and known by some locals as Brixton’s Beach, this is a good example of the pulling power of community action.

Closed by Lambeth Council in 1990, the lido reopened as a private venture in 1994.
