Wilkinson’s Auctioneers of Doncaster is offering 614 lots of fine furniture, paintings, bronzes and decorative items in its sale on April 23.
Taking top estimate at £16,000-18,000 is this rare 19th century Italian Sorrento tilt-topped table. The 12-sided inlaid top shows a figural scene with painted details and is signed by the artist. Measuring 3ft 9in (1m) wide, it is one of a handful of Italian pieces consigned to the auction.
Gorringe’s is offering this 14th/15th century Tibetan gilt copper alloy figure of Green Tara in its sale in Lewes on April 25.
Standing 8½in (21cm), the figure has been in a UK private collection for over 20 years and is one of nearly 600 lots in the East Sussex saleroom’s Paintings, Prints and Asian Art auction.
The Green Tara is cast seated in lalitasana on a double lotus base, the right hand lowered in varadamudra and the left hand raised to the chest, wearing a dhoti embellished with beaded jewellery.
The figure carries an estimate of £10,000-15,000.
The top lot at Dreweatts & Bloomsbury spring model engineering and transport-related auction on April 26 at Donnington Priory, Newbury, is this 7¼in gauge LSWR Beyer Peacock 2-4-0 Joseph Beattie Standard Well Tank Locomotive No 257, built by John P Dean of Chichester in 2005.
Estimated at £20,000-25,000, the locomotive, finished in traditional brown-lined livery with coal tender to rear and measuring 3ft 3in (98cm) long, has won several awards. The original full-size locos were of classic Victorian design with modifications by the Beyer Peacock Company.
The first six were produced from 1862 with a further 79 being ordered in 1875.
