Sworders of Stansted Mountfitchet is holding its next Books & Maps sale on April 24 and among the lots is this first edition Augustus John Chiaroscuro: Fragments of Autobiography by Jonathan Cape, 1952.

Also included is a photo of John with his family, pictured with a Romany caravan, with the words at the Rookery, Thurning, Norfolk 1909; John Moody from Charles. Photograph taken by Charles Slade circa 1909 and presented to me by him in 1953 written beneath. The book also has Moody’s name to the front end paper.

A signed autograph letter dated 1950 from John to Moody thanking him for the photos completes the lot. Estimate £200-400.

Featuring in East Bristol Auction Rooms’ Games Trains and Automobiles sale on April 22 is this rare 1970s MEGO Batman ‘Batcave’ action figure playset which is in mint condition.

It includes the Batsignal and cardboard console, and comes in its original box.

Estimate £200-300.

If you haven’t had enough Easter eggs by now then this early 20th century nesting egg with 34 smaller versions that fit inside, ranging in size from 2mm up to 6¼in (16cm), might be of interest.

Probably made in Russia, the eggs are made from softwood and then colour stained. They are being offered at Nantwich auctioneer Peter Wilson in its two-day spring sale of fine art, antiques and collectors’ items on April 26-27, guided at £80-120.

Collectables relating to Muhammed Ali (1942-2016) are on offer at Special Auction Services’ Cigarette Cards, Postcards, Ephemera, Transport & Sport sale on April 20 in Newbury, Berkshire.

Among the 597 lots are various autographed photos along with his boxing gloves, both signed, which lead the auction with an estimate of £1600-2000.

This autographed photograph was taken in 1976 when Ali met Queen Elizabeth II in Washington. It was signed in the presence of the vendor in 1990 and is being offered at £200-300.
