Reunited with his parents in Marseilles, he went to Palestine (later to be the state of Israel) and then to England a year later.
Peter arrived in England for the second time, having been here briefly via the Kindertransport scheme when he was six, but had returned to his parents after they had escaped Austria to France, thinking they would be safe.
Arriving in England at the age of 15 he found a job as an apprentice watchmaker in Kentish Town, eventually setting up a very successful business in the London Silver Vaults, Chancery Lane, selling antique clocks and watches and doing most of his own repairs and restorations.
For many years a stall-holder on Portobello and Bermondsey markets, he was always very generous with his time and expertise and helped many a budding dealer.
A proud family man, he had two sons, Daniel and Jonathan, who helped him at Portobello for many years. He will be remembered for his kindness and generosity to all.
