Owners Archie and Caddy Mackie, who opened Original House in 2008, moved into a new showroom last year.
On June 28 it added a selection of paintings to accompany the furniture on offer.
“It’s really good having some contemporary art to dress the furniture,” Archie says. “It’s really satisfying having a client come around to get a sideboard and then getting a painting to go with it.”
The opening was attended by more than 200 people and included a display of vintage race cars from the party’s sponsor, William I’Anson.
The showroom is open by appointment only but aims to offer a relaxed and less traditional selection of objects and encourage buyers to move away from cheaply made, mass-produced furniture.
