The boutique or “micro” fair, called BADA Collection at the Lanesborough, takes place from October 5-8 at the prestigious Lanesborough hotel on Hyde Park Corner.

It will have a look and feel distinct from the annual BADA Fair (the next on March 14-20, 2018). The event is already over-subscribed and participants will be selected by BADA.

It will slot into the London calendar three weeks after the LAPADA Fair at Berkeley Square (September 13-18) and run concurrently with Frieze Masters and Frieze London which are held in Regent’s Park between October 5-8.

BADA chief executive’s Marco Forgione told ATG: “My aim is to reflect the changes that are taking place across the landscape for the art and antiques market as well as for luxury buying in a broader sense.

“Timed for early October, it’s about helping to maximise London’s position as the capital for art and antiques for the autumn and giving buyers an additional opportunity. But we’re proposing a different style of event, intimate and focused for collectors.”

High-quality audience

Forgione added that through the event, the trade association will seek to access a new “high-value, high-quality” audience.

During the coming year, BADA plans to continue developing the fair and its relationship with the Lanesborough.

Though the possibility of surrounding events such as lectures have been considered, for the moment it remains a collector-driven event.
