The offering includes landscape pastels and watercolours, figure and portrait studies, still-lifes and sketches for larger works, all of which will be priced from around £1000 to more than £8000.

At the upper end of the price range is Clausen’s 1904 study for Gleaners Coming Home. The finished work, now owned by the Tate and on loan to Compton Verney House Trust, is one of his best-known works.

The pastel drawing is a study for a figure on the right-hand side of the painting. Similar studies are at the Victoria and Albert Museum.

The 15 x 11in (39 x 28cm) work is priced £12,000.
