The show is staged at the Royal Thames Yacht Club in Knightsbridge, London, on June 28-29 and features more than 150 portrait miniatures from Hill of Ellison Fine Art and an assortment of historical portraits and objects from Millett.
It is the sixth summer exhibition Hill has staged at the club which offers a salubrious atmosphere where, she tells ATG “visitors will be able to browse at their leisure in the comfort of a large, airy room, away from the hustle and bustle of a large tent”.
For Millett, it is the first time spending a summer in the capital outside of a fair. After many years at Olympia, Millett became a regular at Art Antiques London. When that closed, he recalls, “I hated the idea of doing nothing. London in June is a special time”.
He’s optimistic about the prospect. Their stock is complementary and those attendees not already clients of either are likely to be tempted by both sets of stock.
On top of which will be the fun of working with Hill who he gets on so well with. He estimates they have more than 15 years’ experience exhibiting together at various fairs including Olympia, LAPADA and BADA fairs.
In the meantime, Hill’s anticipation has been bolstered by an upturn in the market for miniatures. In the weeks since the ivory ban was dropped from the Conservative manifesto, both sales and enquiries have increased for her.
Ultimately, it is a chance for both to offer objects that are attractive for historical value as well as decorative appeal.
Hill adds: “Our stock works well together and it is a unique opportunity to see history in the round rather than in one dimension.”
