The show from May 10-19 is one of several to have featured the work of the British photographer recently.
Current exhibitions of Mayne’s work include a major loan display at The Photographers’ Gallery – the largest such since 1999 – which continues until June 11.
It includes his early scenes of Leeds and his 1964 installation The British at Leisure, which projects 310 of his colour images onto five screens to the sound of a jazz composition.
And, last month, the Thelma Hulbert Gallery in Honiton, Devon featured some of the fragile, large-scale photographs of North Kensington’s Southam Street which Mayne previously kept in a barn at his home in Lyme Regis.
Mayne is particularly remembered for his images of London life in the 1950s and early ‘60s, which focus on the Southam Street community. These black-andwhite portraits and views of daily life remain popular and influential images of post-war Britain.
At Bernard Quaritch, visitors can add some of Mayne’s most memorable works to their collections, including his lesserknown images of his time in Paris.
The event coincides with Photo London, where the gallery has also taken a stand.
