A dessert service decorated c.1810 by the influential porcelain painter William Billingsley (1758-1828) leads Historical & Collectable’s sale in Padworth, near Reading, on November 18.
The floral specimen set was made during Billingsley’s short stint at Flight Barr & Barr’s porcelain factory at Worcester, where he became instrumental in refining the pottery’s porcelain recipe.
The set comprises two tureens and covers, each painted on both sides, a pair of oval dishes and 24 plates, each painted with a different floral panel. It is estimated at £8000-12,000.

Two pieces of furniture from nearby Hardwicke Court star in Chorley’s final sale of the year on November 21-22 in Gloucestershire. The Grade II-listed house has been the principal seat of the Lloyd-Baker family since the late 18th century.
This 19th century Italian cabinet carved in the shape of Siena Cathedral is guided at £10,000-15,000. It features a clock in blue enamel signed by London watch retailer Klaftenberger, and is set on a Gothic Revival cupboard standing 9ft 10in (3.01m) high.
The other piece of furniture is a reconstructed Flemish ‘Antwerp’ cabinet in red tortoiseshell and ebony, which carries an estimate of £5000-7000.

A dozen objects owned by Princess Margaret have been consigned to Boningtons’ sale in Epping, Essex, on November 15. The lots, which include jewellery, gold boxes and cigarette cases, were acquired by the vendor from Christie’s large 2006 sale of property from the British royal’s estate.
This ornately decorated gold-mounted grey agate snuff-box was given to the princess by the American ambassador, John Hay Whitney, when she married the Earl of Snowdon in 1960. Possibly German, it bears spurious marks for Fabergé, and dates to the first half of the 20th century. Estimate £10,000-15,000.
