Trading in stamps for 56 years and other collectables for 38 years, I have never had to accept credit cards in payment.
My high-end deals were nearly always trade and payment by cheque was good. I have a credit card myself but do not use it to purchase auction lots.
Therefore I was surprised one Sunday morning when Mastercard phoned to tell me my card had been used to make 56 payments in the US. I had been scammed and was saved to the tune of several thousand pounds by the chargeback procedure.
I do wonder what percentage of chargebacks are really fraud perpetrated on the cardholder, compared with vice-versa.
