The 2in (5cm) diameter, five-minute repeat striking watch with sweep stop-watch hand was in undamaged, working condition and in its original monogrammed leather case.

The inscription to the reverse read From Jamset jee N Tata to James Morris, the Architect of Esplanade House, Bombay 1890. The building, still standing, was recognised with the UNESCO Asia Pacific Award for Cultural Heritage Restoration in 2014.

Estimated at £2000-3000, at the Hampshire rooms it sold to a Chinese bidder at £7000.
