As our news story this week reveals, TV antiques pundit Mark Hill is joining the Maidenhead saleroom as a consultant. Another appointment is Michael Elston, pictured above, specialist in rare books, manuscripts, and stamps.

Aubrey Dawson, the firm’s managing director, says: “We are excited to be able to share Michael’s experience and expertise in the formation of our new rare books, stamps and maps department here at Dawson’s. We’re looking forward to working alongside him in this new series of dedicated specialist sales.”

The auction house will be holding its first sale is this field on October 28 and plans to hold two a year.

“We have had a very positive reaction from the public since launching this sale, indicating that this is a growing field of collecting. We have already had a significant number of interesting consignments.”

Elston has more than 15 years’ experience in the field at regional and international level, as an auctioneer, consultant and valuer.
