The c.1930, 4in (10.5cm) diameter clear and frosted glass bowl was engraved to the base R Lalique, France, 26:2 and featured a moulded cockerel to the cover and applied stylised wheatsheaves to the sides.

Condition problems were limited to tiny chips to the edge of the box where it joins the lid, a small chip to the inner rim of the base and light surface scratching commensurate with age. So, it was no real surprise when it left the estimate behind, but the winning £4000 bid was considered a strong one.
