Sutton, an artist, also runs the Lambeth Open event. This takes place on Saturday and Sunday, October 7-8, with 32 artists across the Lambeth borough opening their studios to market and sell their work to a wider audience.

He says: “Too often these gold mines of creativity are hidden away and we hope our event helps to shine a light on our wonderful and creative community.

“We are so lucky to have all this talent on our doorstep and something worth showing off to the rest of London.”

John Hobbs is an abstract artist living and working in Stockwell, south London. Among the works he will be selling during Lambeth Open is his Large Collage 1, a collage, paint and ink on a wood panel, priced at £595 and measuring 19 x 19in (48 x 48cm).

Hobbs says: “The collage pieces were initially old papers, the backs of photographs and old picture mounts, along with other bits I found. Now I also use cardboard, painted papers plus coloured and hand-made papers.”
