It is one of the events staged by Galloway Antiques Fairs and the first edition, which features 35 exhibitors, takes place from April 20-22.

This is also a chance to visit the historic Duncombe Park house which is not open to the public – the fair is staged downstairs in the servants’ quarters and visitors can also view the staterooms, bedrooms and garden. Town and country furniture, porcelain, silver, books and decorative items are all on offer.

Among those attending this edition are furniture specialist Malcolm Eglin, Billy Rae with jewellery, silver dealer Jack Shaw & Co and Rowles Fine Art.

Though some are local dealers, others, such as Cathedral Antiques from Fortrose in Scotland, with a selection of furniture and decorative items, make longer journeys.
