1. This typical coastal watercolour by Robert Anderson (1842-1885) looked good value when it sold for £320, just under hopes of £350-400 at Keys on March 22. The signed 17in x 2ft 2in (44 x 66cm) work depicts fishermen in Auchmithie, Scotland.

2. With various old labels to the verso, this 14 x 10in (35 x 25cm) watercolour of the Corsini Garden in Rome by English aristocrat Augustus Hare (1834-1903) sold for £220, more than double its guide, at Greenslade Taylor Hunt of Taunton on April 5. Best known as a writer and raconteur, Hare was also an accomplished 19th century watercolourist whose frequent trips to the continent became his overriding subjects.

3. This 19 x 29in (48 x 73cm) allegorical oil on canvas titled Love chasing away Pain and Worry by Serge Henri Moreau (1892-1963) was knocked down at £110, within estimate, at Batemans of Stamford on April 7.
