Gallery director Jason T Busch said: “We are honoured to be invited to participate in one of America’s best antiques and art fairs.
“I have been educated at the WAS for the last 20 years and am deeply impressed in how Catherine Sweeney Singer [executive director] and her team have developed the fair into a leading marketplace of objects from both past and present.
“While our gallery primarily participates in contemporary art and design fairs, exhibiting work from our historic and contemporary programmes in one forum is an attractive opportunity during the 30th year of the Jason Jacques commercial art business.”
The gallery’s WAS display will be based around the theme of Past Present and Future and Busch explained the concept with reference to some of the specific pieces on offer.
By Past, he said, “we will show work that is the bedrock of the Jason Jacques Gallery, namely c.1900 European ceramics, like the Hector Guimard fireplace, René Buthaud vase and Clement Massier lamp, all of which will be featured in the WAS”.
Present is the work in ceramic by living artists for which Jason Jacques and the gallery have been garnering an “increasingly significant international reputation, such as Beth Cavener and Katsuyo Aoki”.
Future can be defined as “the conceptional, although sometimes functional work of various media – including and beyond ceramic – that the gallery is boldly presenting in 2018, such as the work of Joel Otterson and Rick Owens”.
